This wonderfully-rich brown cotton twill fabric with its slightly napped or ‘peached’ surface seems like a strange fabric to be including in our collections in the midst of a heatwave – which is what we have at the moment. However it’s a classic fabric which will anchor and complement a range of colours – and for those of you who like to plan ahead, there’s never a bad time to consider a fabric such as this brown cotton will fabric.
This is a wonderful-quality fabric, produced in Europe and coming to us via a high-end UK design house. It has a refined diagonal classic twill weave, softened slightly by that lightly-textured surface nap, giving it the feel of a moleskin fabric – albeit a very refined one.
We’d say that our brown cotton twill fabric was a good medium-weight twill, yet pliable and not at all bulky. It has excellent opacity and a robust structure which manages to hold a shape well, as you can see from this video.
This is a fabric which we’d instinctively use for trousers – however a fitted autumn skirt – knee length or above with opaque tights and flat shoes or boots would also be a classic option. Jackets – either a fitted style or less formal denim-jacket style – would also work very well. The colour of brown here is a rich, warm earthy colour – but as ever, if you’re matching please do ask for a sample – we’d much prefer to have a happy customer!
This isn’t a stretch fabric so you’ll need to make sure your pattern accommodates the ease you’ll need to move and sit in comfort. We think the ‘Willow’ Pant from Style Arc would be the perfect slim-fit trouser for our brown cotton twill fabric.
Machine wash at 30 or 40 degrees either separately or with other dark fabrics. Find out more on our About our fabric pages
