This classy smoke green stretch wool suiting fabric has been imported from Italy for use by a leading British house; we’re thrilled to have grabbed some. It has a handle that is so refined that we swear it will make you sigh. This smoke green stretch wool suiting fabric has a beautiful finish and moves with ripples and an amazing swing as you can see in this video.
This is the perfect fabric for cross-season tailoring – or simply if you prefer jackets, trousers and skirts that have a more relaxed, less structured feel. Although this is very definitely a lighter-weight suiting fabric it has excellent opacity for its weight and is very stable and straight-forward to work with. This is the kind of fabric that will elevate a simple pattern to a new level – and if you do have the skills to introduce tailored elements then your garments will have a real touch of class.
Relaxed blazers are very much on trend at the moment and we’ve been getting super feedback from customers using Kwik Sew pattern 3715
We think it’s a fair bet that a blazer in this stunning smoke green stretch wool suiting fabric will never really be out of style – you’ll be wearing it in years to come. As far as trousers and skirts are concerned, this is a fabric that will suit more fitted designs as much as it will those with more movement. You might also want to consider this smoke green stretch wool suiting fabric as a candidate for tunics, dresses and even shirts, such is its level of drape and ease of wear, even next to the body.
The minimal spandex element here will give just the slightest touch of ease and also helps with the drape – we wouldn’t go so far as to say that this was a full-on stretch fabric. The shade of green has more blue in it than a khaki and looks fabulous with pinks, apricots, stone and camel neutrals. Specifically it works wonderfully with our ‘Coppice’ camel & smoke green checked wool fabric – which is why we couldn’t resist photographing them together.
98% wool, 2% spandex
We recommend dry-cleaning this fabric to preserve its fit, finish and texture, particularly for lined garments. See our Fabric care pages for more information.
