Here’s another of our refined Portuguese sateen fabrics with a seductive, almost metallic finish. This black stretch sateen fabric is a cut above most sateen fabrics we’ve seen. It sits at the lighter-weight end of the medium-weight sateen bracket, yet has almost complete opacity due to its close weave.
Our gleaming black stretch sateen fabric is very pliable and not at all bulky. The stretch element here is a very slight one across the width of the fabric – just enough for a little ease in a tightly-fit garment. This is a fabric with a crisp yet decisively-folding movement, able to hold a pleat and a shape gently but well, as you can see from this video.
The smooth lustre of this black stretch sateen fabric lends it a calm, serene quality. The black here is a solid, true black which doesn’t lean towards blue, green, brown or grey – or not as far as our naked eyes can tell.
We think you’ll find this fabric a fabulous option for cropped trousers to wear with either black brogues, heeled boots or posh sandals alike. We’d even consider an evening suit. We’d love this Bronnie tuxedo jacket from Style Arc to be available as a digital download which it isn’t yet. However it’s a fabulous example of the kind of garment for which we think our gleaming black stretch sateen fabric would be perfect.
