We know that you know what this café-au-lait faux fur fabric is – it’s your actual-factual teddy-bear coat for the winter. We can assure you that you’ll have to go far to find a cosier, warmer, drapier or softer fur fabric of this type. With a deliciously-soft and welcoming handle and a drape that’s just asking to be wrapped around you for the duration of the cold weather, this fur fabric is just irresistible. Of course, that’s just our opinion but this video should give you an idea of the movement and weight of our café-au-lait faux fur fabric.
We were quite taken aback at the sheer substance of this fabric once we had a metre or two in our hands. Swatches are useful for colour and quality of handle – and by all means ask us for a free sample – we’re always happy to oblige. However we have been completely seduced by our rolls of this café-au-lait faux fur fabric since they arrived. Although this is a flexible knitted fabric (you can see the reverse of the fabric in one of our images) it’s no lightweight. With excellent opacity and a closely-tousled non-directional pile, this fabulous faux fur is simply a hug-in-waiting.
Since this isn’t a double-sided fabric, you’ll need to find a pattern that allows for that with front facings. Even a lighter-weight lining will add warmth; we like the look of our café-au-lait faux fur fabric with our ‘Temptation’ chocolate brown satin fabric.
On the pattern front, Alice used this BurdaStyle Classic Lapel Coat for her faux fur coat last year. It’s a straightforward version of lined coat with plenty of wrapping-up potential!
Since this fabric is likely to be used in conjunction with a lining, we recommend spot- and dry cleaning your finished garment. Find out more on our About our fabric pages
