We do think that plain satin linings are entrancing fabrics. Destined for the most part to be hidden away up sleeves, inside skirts and behind draped panels, they’re all too often to be found in the shade. This temptingly-lovely chocolate brown satin fabric is a case in point.
This is a polyester satin and although it’s a lighter-weight fabric, it has good opacity for it’s weight and might also be fit to be seen as a slinky blouse under a jacket or over evening trousers. Lingerie or a camisole are also options – but whatever you choose to do with it you do with it, this lovely chocolate brown satin fabric really deserves to see the light of day occasionally.
If you do decide to go down the lining route then we’d suggest that dresses and cross-season jackets are going to be best suited for this fabric. It’s not really heavy enough to cope with the internal structure of a heavy winter coat or a casual jacket in a stiff utility fabric.
Our chocolate brown satin fabric has a slightly crisp handle and a lively drape as you can see from this video. There’s absolutely no stretch here – just a little bit of ease on the bias as you’d expect.
Machine wash at 40 degrees, but we recommend dry-cleaning lined garments. Find out more on our About our fabric pages
