This floating floral cream textured lawn fabric is the sister fabric to our previous ‘Summer haze’ and has a similar texture but a very different print. Thee background is a warm but fresh buttermilk and the print design is reminiscent of central European folk art. We love its fresh look and feel.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our floral cream textured lawn fabric is a blend of cotton and viscose. There’s a slightly rumpled texture to this fabric and a near-invisible self-stripe in the weave which add depth and an airy quality. Upon close inspection, it’s the woven self-stripes that create the texture – which means that this is effectively a lightweight and relaxed seersucker fabric. Although you have to look closely to realise that. You’ll also see a very slight lustre to the finish of this lightweight summer dress fabric.
What does this fabric feel like?
This fabric has a soft, smooth and cool handle. Although there’s a light texture, it’s very soft and not at all stiff.
How does this fabric move?
Despite its wafting, ethereal qualities, this is also a fabric with just a little shape-holding capacity and crispness. A metre or two however has a lovely swimming drape as you can see from this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
Our floral cream textured lawn fabric has good opacity for its weight; the slight texture and print pattern both help with this. A top, blouse or tunic won’t need lining. You might choose to line, layer or wear a half-slip under a skirt or dress unless you’re planning to wear it for a less formal occasion, since your silhouette will be visible if you’re standing in front of the sun. We don’t think that’s a problem in a long, floating summer mxi dress – frock but you might!
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, blouses and tunics will be perfect choices. Skirts and dresses are also options, but they’ll likely be draping, less structured designs to make the most of this fresh floral cream textured lawn fabric. This ‘Holiday’ Maxi Cover-Up pattern from Style Arc would make great use of the floating coolness of this fabric.
