It’s the colour combination of this delicately-designed cream printed cotton lawn that drew us to it. Burgundy, slate, gold, palest mauve and black – all on a great ground. It’s a fabulous mid-century palette that works well across seasons. The print design suggests leaves in a stream, pulled into eddies and flurries across the surface of the water.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our gold, slate and cream printed cotton lawn fabric is a lighter-weight, closely-woven cotton lawn. It’s woven from long-fibred ‘Pima’ cotton; strong, fine cotton yarn which results in a smooth, refined and high-quality cloth.
What does this fabric feel like?
This fabric has a soft, smooth and cool handle. It feels very fine yet it’s robust, stable and very easy to work with.
How does this fabric move?
The movement of this gold and slate printed cotton lawn fabric is a soft, floating drape which will catch a breeze with elegance, as you can see from this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
The close weave of this cream printed cotton lawn fabric remove the need to line a top or tunic since it has very good opacity for its weight and colour. A fitted bodice would require lining for strength and structure but a skirt or bottom half of a summer dress would be just fine in a single layer over bare legs. If in doubt, you could line it with our ‘Placket’ plain Pima white cotton lawn fabric to add stability as well as additional opacity.
What can I make with this fabric?
Classy summer tops and shirts, as well as dresses designed to gather and waft in a summer breeze, are all options for this cool-to-wear cream printed cotton lawn fabric. We love the simplicity of the ‘Lotte’ Blouse from Anna Allen – the puffed sleeves and gently shaped silhouette give a sense of relaxed volume without too much fabric.
