We love the fact that jersey fabrics come in so many shapes and styles. This black and charcoal cloqué jersey fabric is a fabulous choice for the colder weather we think. Although the charcoal and black elements are sober in terms of colour, the suggestion of an animal print places this fabric right on-trend and gives it a little levity.
‘Cloqué’ is the term used for the raised ‘blisters’ of colour which is how the black patterned element is formed on this charcoal cloqué jersey fabric. The fabric as a whole is a doubleknit; the reverse of this jersey is a plain grey knit which provides stability to the fabric as a whole.
Our black and charcoal cloqué jersey fabric has a beautifully-soft handle. It’s a medium-weight doubleknit fabric with a gentle drape and about a 10-15% stretch across its width. You can see how it falls, moves and stretches in this video.
Given the comparatively restricted stretch of this charcoal cloqué jersey fabric, we don’t think it’s one for leggings. However that doesn’t mean to say it isn’t a tremendously-versatile fabric. We think simple dresses, tunics, pullover tops and short skirts are all ways of making the most of this pattern over the winter months.
We think this simple and stylish ‘Cher’ dress from Style Arc would be perfect for our black and charcoal cloqué jersey fabric. It would make the most of the soft drape of this fabric as well as giving the pattern a chance to make a statement.
