Rippling, layered, longer-length dresses and elegant draping blouses continue to be very much a part of current collections. Cool and wafting in the warmer months, breathable fabrics like this vibrant coral floral viscose crepe-de-chine fabric are perfect for emulating that classic look. It’s decorated with stargazer lilies and arching foliage against a rich but slightly-muted coral-red background.
What kind of fabric is this?
This coral floral viscose crepe-de-chine is a 100% viscose cloth. Closely-woven with the finely-textured surface you’d expect in a crepe-de-chine, we’d describe it as a lighter-weight dress or blouse fabric.
What does this fabric feel like?
This fabric has a slightly rippled but refined and cool handle. It’s breathable so a good option for warmer weather. It’s very soft and gentle next to the skin.
How does this fabric move?
Whether you decide to use it on the cross or hang it straight, our coral floral viscose crepe-de-chine fabric loves to flow and ripple. You’ll need to take care to lay it out and pin carefully when working with it. A length of it will swing and drape with life and elegance as you can see in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
Our lily-printed coral floral viscose crepe-de-chine fabric has very good opacity for its weight; the depth of colour also helps. A top, blouse or tunic won’t need lining. You might choose to line, layer or wear a half-slip under a skirt or dress if you’re wearing it over hosiery but we’ve worn it unlined with comfort and modesty.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, blouses and dresses are all options for this delightfully-vibrant fabric. Draping, less structured designs are always going to be its forte. We used it to create a version of the ‘Sorrento’ ruffled skirt from Style Arc which worked wonderfully, if we say so ourselves.
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
