ClothSpot x DreamCutSew
We’re so excited to have collaborated with Diane from DreamCutSew on our Soft-tailored Blazer Kit. Diane’s blog has a much-deserved reputation for impeccable sewing and refined design choices. She also creates wonderful photography and has a sense of fun that’s right up our street.
Diane made her selection of jacket and lining fabrics from our Blazer Kit to create a vibrant crimson-lined charcoal version with classic jetted pockets with flaps and a welted breast pocket. She also added a Full Bust Adjustment and buttoned sleeve vents. She’s created instructions for these additions as part of our Sew-along and you can see all the details of her version on her blog post here.
About the pattern
Our kit is based on Kwik Sew pattern 3715. We did a review of all the blazer patterns on offer and selected this design for its relaxed, contemporary styling, its potential to be adapted for cross-season wearing and the ability to add or remove complexity according to your sewing skills.
Our Blazer Kit contains everything you need to make either View A (with flapped jetted pockets and a welted breast pocket) or View B (with 2 patch pockets.) The kit also includes instructions and materials for the DreamCutSew additions.
Our kit is available in the following sizes –
|Bust (inches)||31.5 – 32.5||34 – 35.5||37 – 38.5||40 – 41.5||43 – 45|
|Waist (inches)||22.5 – 23.5||24.75 – 26||27.5 – 29||31-33||35 – 37|
|Hip (inches)||32.5 – 34||35.5 – 37||38,5 – 40||41.5 – 43.5||45 – 47|
The DreamCutSew adaptation includes a Full Bust adjustment. We think the pattern comes up slightly large around the upper body but that’s integral to the relaxed styling.

We think this blazer would be an excellent introduction to soft tailoring. The lapels and pocket details aren’t for beginners, but Judy made two versions as her first-ever jackets (one for each lucky daughter!) and they came out wonderfully.
Worried by all those interfacings? Don’t be! We’ve done all the research and testing for you and your kit will contain exactly the right interfacings for the different elements of the blazer. We were all impressed by the clarity and accuracy of the pattern instructions which take you through each step of the construction.
Just to help you on your way, we’ve prepared a Blazer Kit Sew-along. It doesn’t replicate every step of the blazer construction as the instructions are so helpful. However our Sew-along has step-by-step photographs of all the more complex elements, as well as details of how to use the different interfacings, creating the tailored pockets and fitting the shoulder pads and the sleeve heads.
We’ll be with you all the way! If you’re not sure of anything, just contact us and we’ll be delighted to help.
