With the appearance of a straightforward satin, we were rather seduced by this grey and silver cupro satin fabric once we had it in our hands. There’s a substance and softness to the drape and feel of this fabric that set it apart from an ordinary satin. You can see the beautiful drape and swing of this fabric in this video.
Although our first thought was that the print pattern of this grey and silver cupro satin fabric was an animal print – subsequent revisits suggest a more abstract print pattern. We’d say the design cleverly sits between two camps.
Despite the clear white of the background and the delicate silver tones of the print pattern, our grey and silver cupro satin fabric has better opacity than we had anticipated. This is a closely-woven satin too – all of which helps. A blouse, top or tunic should simply require a little attention to be paid to underwear colour. Although blouses and elegant tops are our first go-to for this delightfully soft-handled fabric, we think it would also work beautifully as a dress, providing you had a lining able to provide your garment with structure and to enable movement.
The close weave and fine nature of this fabric will require you to deploy a ‘sharp’ rather than a universal needle – and we suggest a fine-gauge one at that.
If you’re in search of pattern ideas, then you’ll want to know that this fabric is an option in our ClothSpot Slinky Shirt Kit – so perfect for a glamorous blouse!
76% polyester, 24% cupro
We suggest hand-washing this finely-woven fabric in order to avoid damaging it in a machine. See our Fabric care pages for more information.
