We know this vibrant orange and pink striped ribbed jersey fabric probably wasn’t what you were expecting – but we couldn’t resist. We just love the idea of a retro striped T-shirt, closely-fitted, with shortish sleeves and ideally, a little zip at the front with a polo-shirt style collar. Or perhaps a fitted turtle-neck ‘T’. There’s a retro-themed ‘sportif’ going on here that we think is perfect for casual spring wear. We’ve another colourway too – our ‘Innsbruck’ orange and navy blue striped ribbed jersey fabric is a more classically-coloured alternative.
We think the colour combinations of this vibrant orange and pink striped ribbed jersey fabric are so upbeat and incredibly effective together. Although there are some pastel colours here, they’re brought to life with the orange and grounded with the dark wine and navy blue. The irregularity of the stripes, the different thicknesses – we love it.
Our orange and pink striped ribbed jersey fabric isn’t a stiff fabric – it has good movement – however the star of the show its its capacious stretch-and-return which you can see in this video.
There’s at least a 100% stretch capacity here, with the ribs as well as the knit itself providing the give. We were surprised to learn that this is a polyester fabric since there’s a distinctly cotton-y feel to this jersey – but apparently polyester it is. For which, please forgive us – but honestly we promise you’lll be pleasantly surprised. This is a fabric with great opacity but not overly heavy.
We think fitted tops are the way to go as they’ll use the negative ease inherent in the fabric – however long, casual shell or T-shirt style dresses will also work well. They’ll hold a columnar line with the stretch in the fabric structure providing the ease required for plenty of activity.
Finally, we couldn’t choose between these three patterns so we put them all in as ideas.
