Rich olive-browns, muted gold and softly-vibrant blue highlights make for a complex and very grownup palette in this blue and bronze floral silk georgette fabric. There’s a shady sense of magic inherent in this print pattern we’ve been thoroughly enchanted by it.
This is a sheer fabric with a degree of opacity afforded by the depth of colour in the print. Our bronze floral silk georgette fabric has a slightly crisp handle and a rolling, wafting drape as you can see from this video.
Despite the delicacy of this fabric, it’s quite well-behaved and surprisingly stable on our cutting table. French seams will be the order of the day for making up this bronze floral silk georgette fabric. They’ll provide an elegant finish as well as a little definition for your finished garment. Blouses, tops, kimonos and overshirts will all be options for this fabric although as a sheer fabric you’ll want to consider camisoles or layering as a means of bringing a little modesty to the party.
We love the spirit embodied in the Venus Kimono – we think it would be the perfect design for our bronze floral silk georgette fabric – and a great design to try if you’re new to sewing with sheer fabrics.
Alternatively you could simply opt for a beautifully hand-hemmed scarf to drift over your shoulders. For the record we think our bronze floral silk georgette fabric looks stunning with our ‘Murdoch’ draping air force blue triple crepe fabric. Just in case you were looking for ideas…
We recommend hand-washing this fabric – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
