Our blue, rust and olive floral crepe fabric continues the trend for darker floral fabrics with plenty of drape. The quality of the print is beautiful, as is the fabric itself. We dare you not to find a colour here that will work with your wardrobe right across the seasons.
What kind of fabric is this?
Although a less substantial fabric than our triple crepes our gold and olive floral crepe fabric is nonetheless a highly versatile and practical fabric. We’d still describe it as a good medium-weight dress fabric. It has just a little elastane in its composition, giving a slight stretch across its width. Not a massive amount – but enough for ease in a fitted garment. The main composition element is polyester which is compensated for in the quality of the weave and print.
What does this fabric feel like?
Our olive floral crepe fabric has the grainy texture you’d expect in a crepe fabric. It would still be comfortable next to the skin however, since the reverse side has a satin finish. It’s a very pliable fabric; stable and not at all bulky.
How does this fabric move?
Our blue, gold and olive floral crepe fabric is a very draping, rippling fabric that falls into heaps of rounded folds. However it has some substance and swings with great liveliness as you can see from this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
This is a closely-woven crepe fabric which therefore has very good opacity for its weight. A shirt, top or tunic wouldn’t require lining. Although you might consider a slip or a lining under a dress or skirt for movement against hosiery or for structure – you wouldn’t require it for purposes of modesty.
What can I make with this fabric?
Dresses, skirts and tops are all options for this most versatile of fabrics; jumpsuits too, especially those with a little drape. The fashion story of the moment however, is one of long, flowing dresses with full skirts. The Wilder Gown from the Friday Pattern Company fits right into that narrative and our blue, gold and olive floral crepe fabric would make a fabulous colder-weather version of this garment.
