The pattern of this predominantly purple, gold and pink printed viscose challis fabric is reminiscent of a paisley. However a closer look reveals burgeoning buds and petals in an abstract floral design rather than the traditional ‘comma’ motifs of a classic paisley. The abundant use of bright-to-pastel colour contrasts is very much a theme for Summer 2019 and we love the life inherent in this fabric.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our gold and pink printed viscose challis fabric is a plain-woven viscose. It’s a lighter-weight dress fabric or a medium-weight fabric for a summer blouse or top, depending on your perspective.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a fabric with a soft handle; it’s breathable and very comfortable next to the skin. Perfect for warmer weather.
How does this fabric move?
Whether you decide to use it on the cross or hang it straight, our gold and pink printed viscose challis fabric fabric loves to flow and ripple. However it’s a it’s a stable fabric which we’ve found easy to work with. You can see how it drapes and moves in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
Our multicoloured gold and pink viscose challis fabric has very good opacity for its weight; the print pattern and colours also help. A top, blouse or tunic won’t need lining. You might choose to line, layer or wear a half-slip under a skirt or dress unless you’re planning to wear it for a less formal occasion as you might see a silhouette if you’re standing in front of the sun. However for less formal occasions in warmer weather, we’d be more than happy not to have to worry about a lining.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, blouses and tunics will be perfect choices. Skirts and dresses are also options, but they’ll probably be draping and less structured designs. The ‘Ogden’ Cami from True/Bias is the perfect example of a simple summer pattern that would be fabulous in this draping fabric.
