These plain viscose challis fabrics are deceptively versatile little numbers. While we often think of them primarily as lovely soft and breathable lining fabrics for more draping designs, they also stand in their own right for simple layering garments and lingerie. Classic robes to throw over a summer top; camisoles and slips are all options.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our plain viscose challis fabrics are simple, flat-woven, lightweight fabrics in 100% viscose.
What does this fabric feel like?
These are fabrics with a very soft, gentle handle. They’re very comfortable next to the skin; cool and comfortable to wear.
How does this fabric move?
These are very draping fabrics yet they have a stable weave and for such lightweight fabrics are straightforward to work with. You can see how they move and drape in this video which shows the pale duck-egg colourway.
Will I need to line this fabric?
These are fabrics which in themselves, are intended for lining. Although they are of sufficient quality to be used as simple blouses, robes and lingerie, we anticipate that these will either be layered, or worn over appropriately-toned undergarments.
What can I make with this fabric?
If you’re considering a robe or camisole then this Loungewear Camisole pattern from Style Arc might be one to consider.
