You can see into this navy blue and aqua printed jersey fabric, pretty much anything you like. For us it was a receding, rippling seascape but we’re open to any interpretation.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our navy blue and aqua printed jersey fabric is a fabulous medium-weight single-knit fabric that we’ve officially been told is a blend of cotton, polyester and elastane. However we’ve had a good look at it and done some tests – and we’re convinced it’s actually a viscose and spandex blend that someone has mislabelled along the way. What can we say – it happens – but as always we’re trying to give you as much information as we can. Regardless, this is a knit with real substance which we think it’s wonderfully versatile.
What does this fabric feel like?
This single-knit jersey fabric has a beautifully smooth and soft handle. It will be comfortable next to the skin, too.
How does this fabric move?
This navy blue and aqua printed jersey fabric has some weight – consequently it drapes and swings with style. It has about a 20% stretch-and-return across its width; a little less down its length. You can see how it drapes and stretches in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
You won’t need to line a shirt, top or tunic; despite the ivory background to this fabric it’s substantial enough to cope in a single layer for most types of garment. . However a skirt or dress would need a lining or a half-slip in order for it to move against the body, unless you’re wearing it over bare legs. Which we probably would, given the print design.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, tunics, dresses and even lounge trousers would all be options for this substantial single-knit. Style Arc have lots of patterns for layering jersey fabrics – from relaxed wrap cardigans to tunics and t-shirts in different styles. However we think the sheer classic simplicity of their Cruise Club Kim Dress is the perfect match for this navy blue and aqua printed jersey fabric. It would be a fabulous ‘base layer’ for casual spring & summer dressing and would be beautifully soft and comfortable to wear.
