It’s blowing horizontal snow outside as we write; we think that this draping floral viscose jersey fabric will be the perfect fabric to bring some warmth to your life. Equally, should the sun come out before you get it made up then these abstract, inky flowers on this hottest of hot pink backgrounds will complement the hottest of summer days.
Our hot pink draping floral viscose jersey fabric leans towards a lighter-weight single-knit jersey. It has a stunning drape and excellent stretch-and-return as you can see in this video.
This jersey is a fairly fine knit, yet the closeness of the knit and the depth of colour here mean that it has surprisingly good opacity for its weight. We think it would be perfect for tops, tunics and dresses, where it will hang, fit and drape to perfection. As a top, we suggest you might want to let it play to its strengths, using draping, gathering and ruching to create your shape. The ‘Selja’ Knot Tee from Named Clothing is a simple shape which would let the colours in our draping floral viscose fabric speak for themselves.
If you go the dress route then you’ll probably want to consider a half- or full slip to aid with modesty, shape and movement.
The pink here is a particularly warm shade and we’re impressed with the quality of the viscose yarn used. There’s just a little bit of light-reflection here as a result, which we think brings this vibrant design to life. The spandex content not only adds a resilience to the stretch of this single-knit fabric; it also adds weight to the fabric, enabling it to drape and move with definition, rather than simply waft. Not that wafting doesn’t sometimes have its place – it’s just that this doesn’t.
