This blue & jade floral ivory viscose jersey fabric combines vibrant jewel colours with a myriad of pastels, all on a fresh ivory background. We think the print design makes a fabulously graphic statement – there’s nothing wishy-washy about this floral.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our cobalt blue and jade floral ivory viscose jersey fabric is a draping single-knit cloth. We’d describe it as a good medium-weight single knit bracket. As with many single knits, it can be tricky to judge weight and substance from a snippet, but once you have a metre or two of this fabric in your hand, you know it has great presence.
What does this fabric feel like?
As you’d expect from a viscose jersey fabric, this is a fabric with a very soft, smooth handle. It will be comfortable to wear next to the skin and it’s breatheable too.
How does this fabric move?
Our jade floral ivory viscose jersey fabric is a very draping single knit with a fluid movement. It has a good 40% stretch across its width and rather less than that down the length of the fabric. You can see how it moves and stretches in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
You won’t need to line a shirt, top or tunic made from this fabric, however a dress may require a bodice lining for structure depending on your pattern design. Unless you’re wearing it over bare legs (which this fabric would be quite happy with in the summer), then you’ll need a half-slip to enable this fabric to move against your body.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, tunics and dresses are all options for this cobalt blue and jade floral ivory viscose jersey fabric. You’ll need to find a pattern intended for a knit fabric; garments with more draping designs will work particularly well, as will those which incorporate elements of ruching and negative ease.
This classic ‘Olivia’ Wrap Dress from Named Clothing would be a way of making an elegant statement with this cheerily-graphic fabric.
