We were onto this one like a moth to a flame. Not only is this lovely fabric a blend of sustainable Tencel and linen, it’s in a delightful shade of peach, perfect for light-hearted summer dressing and with a vintage look and feel. This delightful peach Tencel-linen fabric is closely-woven, with the subtle lustre you’d expect from a Tencel fabric, but with the lightly-snubbed texture associated with a refined linen. Blouses, draping dresses and lingerie are all options for a fabric that will delight with fresh whites and creams, as well as with earthy olives, browns and terracotta palettes.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our peach Tencel-linen fabric is a blend of Tencel (79%) with linen. We’d describe it as a lighter-weight dress fabric which has very good opacity for its weight. It’s closely woven in a plain weave pattern with distinct but refined slubs in the weave.
There’s no ease in this fabric except for a little give on the bias, so you’ll need to factor that into your garment choice and sizing. You’ll also need to pre-wash your fabric to ensure that any initial shrinkage is removed prior to cutting.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a smooth, bouncing fabric; cool and soft to the touch and supremely comfortable next to the skin.
How does this fabric move?
Our peach Tencel-linen fabric is a lively cloth which falls and swings beautifully, but which will hold a shape with character. You can see how it moves in this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
You won’t need to line a shirt, top or tunic made from this fabric, however a dress may require a bodice lining for structure depending on your pattern design. Unless you’re wearing it over bare legs, you may need a half-slip or lining to enable this fabric to move against your body. A dress or skirt may reveal a silhouette when backed by sunlight.
What can I make with this fabric?
This peach Tencel-linen fabric is a versatile fabric which we think will lend itself to shirts, tunics and dresses. Loosely-fitted trousers will also be an option, as will warmer-weather jumpsuits. We think the drape of this fabric makes it perfect for the ‘Elodie’ Wrap Dress from Closet Core Patterns.
