We thought the colours as well as the movement in the print pattern of this taupe, red and teal printed crepe-de-chine fabric were rather wonderful. There’s some real depth in some of the colours – but we also love the grown-up air that comes with the inclusion of those neutral stone and taupe shades.
This is a medium-to-light weight crepe-de-chine with a graceful drape and sense of movement as you can see from this video.
It has good opacity for its weight and as a blouse or top would be just fine by itself providing you paid attention to the colour of undergarments. An alternative might be to layer it over a camisole in a similarly-draping fabric such as our Finely-draping lightweight ivory crepe fabric. As a dress we suggest you’d either want to line it or use a half-slip.
The background colour to this taupe and teal printed crepe-de-chine fabric is a very pale green-ivory colour. It’s a shade which we find works very well with chocolate browns as well as with soft mauves. This is a fabric you could either dress up by taking one of the more vibrant colours as your lead – or dress down by teaming it with a taupe or denim.
Our personal preference is to wear it as a tunic over jeans – perhaps in the form of this ‘Trudy Tunic’ pattern from Style Arc.
We think it will use the elegant draping qualities of this fabric particularly well and will work as a daytime as well as a casual evening garment.
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
