The muted background of this slate blue viscose jersey fabric is the perfect foil for the riot of coloured poppies that are strewn across it. We love the exuberant palette of this single-knit print; it’s just arrived from Italy and both the print design and the quality of the fabric are testament to its origins. There are some exquisite colour contrasts here; purple and chartreuse; vibrant green-yellow with pink; tobacco, indigo and muted grey-green are also in this inspired selection of colours.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our poppy-printed slate blue viscose jersey fabric is a draping single-knit composed primarily of viscose, with 5% elastane. It’s a good medium-weight single-knit with very good opacity. There’s about a 40% stretch across the width and about 20% down the length of this fabric.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a beautifully-smooth, finely-woven jersey with a delightful silky finish which elevates the fabric. It will be very comfortable to wear next to the skin and it’s breathable too.
How does this fabric move?
Our vibrantly-poppied slate blue viscose jersey fabric is very much a draping knit with a fluid movement. You can see how it moves and stretches in this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
You won’t need to line a shirt, top or tunic made from this fabric, however a dress may require a bodice lining for structure depending on your pattern design. Unless you’re wearing it over bare legs, then you’ll need a half-slip to enable this fabric to move against your body.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, tunics and dresses are all options for this exceptional printed slate blue viscose jersey fabric. You’ll need to find a pattern intended for a knit fabric; garments with more draping designs will work particularly well, as will those which incorporate elements of ruching and negative ease. With the right pattern, single knit viscose can be a versatile choice for the summer months; it’s breathable and the movement will help move cooler air around your body. We love the vibe of the ‘Mirri’ Faux Wrap Dress from Wardrobe By Me – we can see ourselves slipping into this on a summer’s evening and heading off for an elegant alfresco meet-up.
