Animal prints show no sign of abating in popularity; we love the idea of showing off our wilder side. This rust and vibrant purple animal-print viscose crepe fabric will give us the opportunity to do just that and we can’t wait to have a play. For the record the darker shade defining the animal print pattern is a deep navy blue and not a black – however this is a fabric that would work with either colour.
It’s sometimes difficult to draw a line between a georgette or sheer crepe-weave fabric, and an actual crepe. We’re not sure there’s a firm division between the two, but if there were, then we suspect this purple animal-print viscose crepe fabric would fall just on the ‘crepe’ side of it – but only just.
Our purple animal-print viscose crepe fabric has a wonderfully-lively drape and movement. You can see how it behaves in this video.
This is a fabric with a crisp, elegant handle and although it’s very definitely a lightweight crepe, we’ stop short of calling it a ‘semi-sheer’ since its close weave and vibrant print pattern both lend it some opacity. However as a blouse or top in a single layer, you’ll want to pay attention to undergarments; flesh-coloured or statement dark shades will work best we suggest. As a dress you’ll want to consider a lining, a full slip or a camisole-and-half-slip combination.
We’re offering this purple animal-print viscose fabric as an option for our ClothSpot Slinky Shirt Kit. We think its elegant drape will lend itself perfectly to the pattern we’ve selected for that design and we’ll let you know as soon as we’ve tried it out!
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
