As many of you will know, we’re great aficionados of stretch cotton sateen. It’s supremely versatile, easy to work and practical too – yet the subtle sheen on the surface of the fabric lifts it out of the workaday and into a slightly more upmarket bracket. This cream stretch cotton sateen fabric was a ‘must-have’ as soon as we saw it.
We’re used to seeing ivory, stone and white fabrics – however the warm buttermilk colour of this cream stretch cotton sateen fabric made it very definitely a ‘cream’ although we can assure you it stops well short of heading into overly yellow territory.
Our cream stretch cotton sateen fabric sits well into the medium-weight sateen bracket, yet it has almost complete opacity due to its close weave. It’s a crisp fabric which holds a shape well as you can see from this video.
It’s very pliable and not at all bulky. The stretch element here is a very slight one across the width of the fabric – just enough for a little ease in a tightly-fit garment. We think this would be a great choice for spring suitings and separates – jackets, trousers and skirts alike; dresses too. Particularly if you’re opting for trousers then your undergarments (we suggest) will need to be plain and smooth, preferably toning with your flesh colour. However this cream stretch cotton sateen fabric is at least as substantial as many cotton drills so we do think it will be well up to the job.
We think you’ll find this fabric a fabulous option for cropped trousers to wear – perhaps topping off a favourite pair of tan or navy blue brogues or loafers. We’re great enthusiasts of the Style Arc trousers in terms of fit and construction – these ‘Claudia’ Pants from Style Arc are just the thing we’d envisage for our cream stretch cotton sateen fabric.
