Well – no sooner had we lined up our ‘Cyndi says shimmer’ shot blue frock fabric for our party collection, than we fell upon this stunning navy blue shot satin fabric. The right side is a glowing navy blue, rippling with black but catching the light to escape any notion of being a dull fabric. We think it’s quite magical.
This fabulous, almost iridescent blue-black fabric is a blend of polyester and viscose. Like our earlier discovery, it’s a shot satin fabric in terms of its weave and the matt finish to the outer surface. Once again, there’s a spring and a liveliness to this fabric that is anything but languid. Yes – it drapes as you can see from our images. However it has a resilient structure that helps it wave, lift, bounce and more – all of which enhances its shimmer factor.
Our navy blue shot satin fabric is a stable fabric which we’d characterise as a medium-weight dress fabric. However it has sufficient structure that if you chose to line it, we think it would work as a jacket for a very different evening look. Certainly it would accommodate a much more structured garment than your average satin fabric. It has a soft handle and drapes beautifully, although it prefers to fold along its horizontal weave line, hence the spring in its step.
We suggest you might want to combine our navy blue shot satin fabric with any of our black satin-finished fabrics such as our Crisp black satin lining fabric, our ‘Formal attire’ black duchesse satin fabric or our Heaviest formal satin fabric. We can envisage a dress with a contrasting black satin collar, or a fitted satin jacket. Or perhaps a jacket made from the navy blue shot satin fabric, over satin trousers – or a jumpsuit made from our Languidly-draping black crepe fabric. We think you’ll get the drift – we’ll leave you to work on that theme some more…
Our rather fabulous navy blue shot satin fabric is 150cm wide – a double-take in every metre.
