This eucalyptus green cotton jersey fabric could almost count as a neutral, with its soft, blue-to-grey shade of khaki. It’s the kind of colour we like to offer in a variety of fabric types in order to cover a range of different wardrobe options.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our deep eucalyptus green cotton jersey fabric is a lighter-weight cotton jersey knit fabric, constructed from mercerised cotton yarns. Mercerised yarns tend to be stronger, more refined and take up dyes more effectively than regular cotton fibres.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a knitted fabric with a very smooth feel; it’s very comfortable next to the skin.
How does this fabric move?
This isn’t a draping jersey fabric; rather it falls into folds and wafts a little in a breeze. It has less than 10% stretch which is attained from the knit structure rather than any spandex content. You can see how it stretches and moves in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
A t-shirt, top or tunic in this fabric won’t need lining; you’ll simply have to pay attention to the texture and fit of your undergarments. A double layer of this deep eucalyptus green cotton jersey fabric would provide additional structure for a more structured top.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, t-shirts and tunics are going to be the obvious choices for our soft eucalyptus green cotton jersey fabric. It will cope nicely with ruching or a little negative ease but you’ll want to avoid patterns for draping jerseys or fabrics with lots of stretch. Longer tunics or dresses will also be options, as will lingerie.
We think the simple lines of this ‘Esme’ Designer Top from Style Arc are a good example of the kind of garment for which our soft eucalyptus cotton jersey fabric would be perfect.
