We couldn’t resist the colours and print of the leafy glade on this sky blue viscose jersey fabric. It reminded us of trees branching out over a summer lake, waiting for us to push off out of the shade across the water. Fancy it as a top? Check out our image gallery where we’ve photographed it with our ‘Maris’ crisp chocolate brown Tencel twill fabric, which picks up the rich chestnut browns and ochres in this vibrant jersey knit.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our leaf-laden sky blue viscose jersey fabric is a draping single-knit composed primarily of viscose, with 4% elastane. It’s a good medium-weight single-knit with plenty of weight in a metre or two. It is a closely-knit fabric, this fact, as well as the print pattern, mean that it has very good opacity for its weight. There’s about a 60% stretch across the width of this fabric and around 50% down its length.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a beautifully-smooth and soft jersey. It will be very comfortable to wear next to the skin and it’s breathable too.
How does this fabric move?
Our vibrant, leafy sky blue viscose jersey fabric is very much a draping knit with a fluid movement. You can see how it moves and stretches in this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
You won’t need to line a shirt, top or tunic made from this fabric, however a dress may require a bodice lining for structure depending on your pattern design. Unless you’re wearing it over bare legs, then you’ll need a half-slip to enable this fabric to move against your body.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, tunics and dresses are all options for this show-stopping pink, ochre and sky blue viscose jersey fabric. You’ll need to find a pattern intended for a knit fabric; garments with more draping designs will work particularly well, as will those which incorporate elements of ruching and negative ease.
We think the ‘Alcott’ Dress from the Friday Pattern Company would be the perfect showcase for this fabric – a wrap dress with a flowing skirt to make those leaves ripple.
