We love our viscose prints for their ability to take a print well, their draping elegance and their comfort in warmer weather. This turquoise and khaki green viscose challis fabric brings all of those qualities in an on-trend animal-print inspired design.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our turquoise and khaki green viscose challis fabric is a plain-woven viscose. It’s a lighter-weight dress fabric or a medium-weight fabric for a summer blouse or top, depending on your perspective.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a fabric with a beautifully-smooth and soft handle; it’s breathable and very comfortable next to the skin. Perfect for warmer weather.
How does this fabric move?
Our khaki green viscose challis fabric fabric has a little bounce and a beautiful rounded drape. It will hang softly from delicate gathers and will also drape elegantly when cut on the cross. However it’s a stable fabric which we know you’ll find easy to work with. You can see how it drapes and moves in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
Our subtly-animalistic khaki green viscose challis fabric has good opacity for its weight, helped by the depth of colour in the print design. A top, blouse or tunic won’t need lining although care may need to be taken by avoiding undergarments that contrast with your skin colour. You will probably choose to line, layer or wear a half-slip under a skirt or dress unless you’re planning to wear it for a less formal occasion as you’ll see a silhouette if you’re standing in front of the sun. However for less formal occasions in warmer weather, we’d be more than happy not to have to worry about a lining. If you’re bare legged and at all concerned about modesty then our Plain viscose challis fabrics would make a perfect under-layer for a dress.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, blouses and tunics will be perfect choices. Skirts and dresses and even lightweight summer trousers are also options, but they’ll probably be draping and less structured designs. We thought this simple summer ‘Bonita’ dress from Style Arc patterns might be a lovely way of using this floating khaki green viscose challis fabric.
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
