Viscose is a deceptive fabric – it comes in many guises and the description of a fabric as ‘viscose’ can mean one of many things. Our soft lavender and deep teal blue paisley viscose fabric is a twill-woven, lighter-weight cloth.
Hailing from Italy, this lilac and team blue paisley viscose fabric has a beautifully soft handle and a floating drape as you can see from this video.
Although this is a lighter-weight fabric it has good opacity due to the discernible diagonal twill weave pattern and the depth of colour in the adapted paisley print. As well as a rich teal blue, the print pattern is grounded by a darker-than-dark navy blue that is really more of an ‘off-black’ than an obvious blue. There’s also a greyed powder blue as well as the lilac highlights – and all of this activity takes place on a slightly stoney ivory ground.
We think that tops, blouses and tunics are going to be the strengths of this Italian teal blue paisley viscose fabric. Dresses and skirts are certainly options but to make the most of this fabric they’ll be floating, wafting designs with some form of lining or slip for the sake of ease of movement, structure and modesty, we’d suggest. However as a top or tunic, a single layer of this fabric will suffice.
We think the floating bloused sleeves of this ‘Melody’ tunic from Style Arc will make use of all the qualities of this fabric.
We’d be inclined to wear it over say, a pair of trousers or a skirt created from our ‘Lugano’ finely-woven petrol blue wool twill fabric. Although the blue of the wool twill is slightly different, it’s still complementary to the mix of shades in this teal blue paisley viscose fabric.
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
