Our previous pink wool knit flew out of our store so quickly that we couldn’t help ourselves when we had the opportunity to snap up this cosiest raspberry pink looped wool knit fabric.
It’s another Italian special – a bolt of colour designed to light up our winter and keep us warm as toast. This is a much more substantial knit than our previous find; what grabs you immediately is the looped surface which is very much supposed to be on show. We’ve post an image of the reverse side of the fabric just to show that the looped finish is the side that’s meant to be grabbing your attention here.
You can see how our raspberry pink looped wool knit fabric moves and stretches in this video; there’s a comfortable stretch in both directions although no more than you’d expect in a knitted fabric since there’s no spandex in here.
Despite the decorative nature of this fabric, it’s also a genuinely warm knit, perfect for conjuring up instant jumpers and pullovers. Those chunky loops are knitted into a separately-constructed knitted backing which uses a finer yarn to create the smoother reverse side, making for a more comfortable wear next to the skin. The surface finish is created from a thicker, ‘folksier’ yarn containing slubs which give variations in thickness across the surface of this pink looped knit wool fabric. We’d suggest that you don’t treat this is a woven or even a knitted bouclé fabric for suiting or coating purposes however – we think that cosy knitwear rather than durable outerwear is more the forté of this highly-textured fabric.
If you’re looking for a quick and simple means of making the most of this pink looped knit wool fabric, then take a look at the ‘Nora’ jumper from Tilly and the Buttons.
We think it has the potential for near-instant gratification and warmth too.
