This is a classic charcoal and black striped viscose jersey fabric – perfect for co-ordinating with your wardrobe staples. Team it with black or charcoal; layer it long and swinging for an elegant look or ruche and gather to for a more defined silhouette.
Our black and charcoal striped viscose jersey fabric is a single-knit fabric produced using a fine yarn yet with good opacity for its weight. It’s at the lighter-weight end of the medium-weight single-knit bracket, but has good opacity and is a surprisingly resilient fabric. This is a fabric with a beautiful movement and lovely drape as you can see from this video.
The fine knit structure of this fabric means that it ruches and gathers without adding bulk. As a result you have the option of using a pattern design that relies on ‘negative ease’ – that is, stretching the fabric to fit the body when worn. The stretch in this charcoal striped viscose jersey fabric is approximately 50-60% with good return.
An alternative is to use the draping qualities for a top or tunic such as this ‘Kim’ top from Style Arc. It’s perfect for wearing in its own right over trousers or leggings – or under a further layer of a different colour jersey. You could try this black and charcoal striped jersey fabric under our ‘Midtown’ draping black ponte Roma jersey fabric for instance.
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
