The gentle colour combinations of this powder blue, soft green and lavender paisley cotton lawn fabric are pretty without being saccharine. Pick darker shades of any of the colours in this print to pull an outfit together – or let it pop against ivory, white or black.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our lavender paisley cotton lawn fabric is a lighter-weight, closely-woven cotton lawn. It’s woven from long-fibred ‘Pima’ cotton; strong, fine cotton yarn which results in a smooth, refined and high-quality cloth.
What does this fabric feel like?
As you’d expect from a ‘Pima’ cotton lawn, it has a very smooth, almost silky feel.
How does this fabric move?
Cotton lawn fabrics tend to float and waft with a little crispness. You can see how our lavender paisley cotton lawn fabric moves and drapes in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
You won’t need to line a shirt, top or tunic. However a skirt or dress would need a lining or a half-slip unless you’re making an informal summer dress, since a silhouette will be visible with sunlight behind. Our lavender paisley cotton lawn fabric would also need a lining for strength if you were making a more structured garment such as a fitted bodice for a dress.
What can I make with this fabric?
We think this fabric is perfect for summer tops and blouses – and, we think, gently-gathered or layered maxi dresses. We’d be inclined to make the most of its lighter weight with ruches and softly-rolling gathers, bringing body and movement to a garment without bulkiness. However we also think it would make a very cool summer shirt, for which you might want to consider our ‘tried & tested’ favourite Vogue 8772.
It’s an easy one to fit and has lots of options for sleeve length and garment cut.
