If the print on this black and pink floral silk crepe-de-chine fabric is enough to make you swoon, then let us warn you that its smooth, refined handle and fluid drape will have you reaching for the smelling salts.
This rose and carnation-printed pink floral silk crepe-de-chine fabric somehow manages to combine being a very grown-up fabric with the impact and presence of a stage-struck teenager. It’s one of those fabrics that we could play with forever – evidence of its seductive movement is clear in this video.
We’d stop short of describing our red and pink floral silk crepe-de-chine fabric as a semi-sheer – although we would recommend that if wearing it as a top or tunic, you pay attention to your undergarments. We’d suggest black or a colour to match your flesh tone would be advisable. Blouses, tops and tunics – or lingerie too – would all be utterly desirable in this beautiful-quality silk which for all its floating glory is a surprisingly stable and resilient fabric. Dresses would be an option too, although a good draping black lining or structured underlayer would be necessary.
You’ll want to be aware of the distribution of the print pattern on this pink floral silk crepe-de-chine fabric. We’ve included an image to show how these fabulous roses and carnations are arranged in a series of alternating squares. Unless you planned to centre these deliberately on a skirt (which is a ‘thing’, we know) then we’d suggest placing pattern pieces to create asymmetric swathes of colour. It won’t be difficult to do since the print elements are repeated in close proximity.
We’ve included our pink floral silk crepe-de-chine fabric as an option in our Slinky Shirt kit since frankly, they’re just made for each other.
We’d recommend hand washing as this is a delicate fabric that might be damaged in a washing machine – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
