Our rich burgundy ponte Roma jersey fabric is another lovely doubleknit with a smooth handle and an elegant drape. It’s a medium-weight ponte Roma which treads a careful middle line between softness, drape, stretch and structure. It moves elegantly as you can see in this video – but it still has enough body to hold a shape.
As you can see from our images we’ve been playing with colour combinations. We’re particularly keen on our burgundy ponte Roma jersey fabric in tandem with our ‘Bowery’ spiced orange ponte Roma jersey fabric. The orange pops out beautifully but is toned down and given depth. It’s a combination which we think has a very contemporary vibe, albeit with a spot of 70s referencing. Tan accessories would finish the look – belt, boots or bag – take your pick!
We think our burgundy ponte Roma jersey fabric will find a favourite place in many a wardrobe. It has a good spring-back from its spandex content which is largely across the width of the fabric. Since it holds a shape well, dresses and draping layers are all possibilities, as well as tops, tunics, wraps and loungewear. We also think it might be up for a spot of legging as well as layering, if you’re that way inclined.
We’ve put together a ‘Coatigans’ Pinterest board with some pattern ideas that you might want to consider for this or other knitted or wool fabrics. These are simple, often unlined, relaxed, wrapping and draping garments, perfect for putting on and setting aside as you move in and out of the house or as the temperature changes. They’re both practical and elegant – more so than the the title ‘coatigan’ might suggest!
You might want to consider this ‘Nina’ Cardigan from Style Arc – the perfect choice, we think, for sashaying elegantly through the autumn.
