Fluid midi-length dresses and elegant draping blouses continue to be very much a part of current collections. Cool and wafting in the warmer months, breathable fabrics like this elegantly-restrained navy blue floral viscose crepe-de-chine fabric are perfect for emulating that classic look.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our tulip-scattered blue floral fabric is a 100% viscose crepe-de-chine cloth. Closely-woven with the finely-textured surface you’d expect in a crepe-de-chine, it has just a little light-reflecting lustre. We’d describe it as a medium-weight fabric for tops or blouses or as a lighter-weight dress fabric.
What does this fabric feel like?
This fabric has a very smooth, cool handle with a very slightly rippled surface, resulting from the twisted yarns used in the classic crepe-de-chine weave.
How does this fabric move?
Whether you decide to use it on the cross or hang it straight, our navy blue floral viscose crepe-de-chine fabric loves to flow and ripple. However it’s also a relatively stable fabric which is straight-forward to work with. You can see how it drapes and moves in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
Our blue floral viscose crepe-de-chine fabric has good opacity for its weight and the depth of colour also helps. A top, blouse or tunic won’t need lining. You might choose to line, layer or wear a half-slip under a skirt or dress unless you’re planning to wear it for a less formal occasion as you might see a silhouette if you’re standing in front of the sun.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, blouses and tunics will be perfect choices. Skirts and dresses are also options, but they’ll need to be draping and less structured designs.
This ‘Lois’ dress from Tessuti Patterns is a vintage-styled dress which would make wonderful use of the flowing qualities of this fabric.
