After the experiencing the delight of our ‘Paloma’ emerald & turquoise paisley satin fabric we couldn’t resist its sister colourway, this orange, mauve and pink paisley satin fabric. As with its sibling, this is a fabric guaranteed to bring any room to life, let alone your standby party trousers or a sober suit.
Although a lighter-weight satin fabric, this glowing pink paisley satin fabric has very good opacity for its weight. That’s due in part to its fine weave but also the depth of colour and the pattern design. Tops, tunics and blouses won’t need a lining but a dress will benefit from a lining or at least a half-slip in order to provide some structure and to allow the fabric to move freely against the body. And the movement here is to die for. To help convince you, take a look at this video which shows how it drapes and swings.
Obviously we’ve worked with this fabric and can report that it’s no worse behaved than your average satin fabric. The close weave and fine nature of this pink paisley satin fabric will require you to deploy a ‘sharp’ rather than a universal needle – and we suggest a fine-gauge one at that. With that tool to hand however – and by proceeding slowly rather than at the pace of an express rain – you should be able to sew this fabric without any trouble.
If you’re in search of pattern ideas, then you’ll want to know that this fabric is also an option in our ClothSpot Slinky Shirt Kit – so perfect for a glamorous blouse!
We suggest hand-washing this finely-woven fabric in order to avoid damaging it in a machine. See our Fabric care pages for more information.
