We love crepe fabrics for their elegant movement and gentle texture brought about by the classic crepe weave using highly twisted threads. This ivory viscose crepe fabric is perfect for elegant, classic garments, the weave structure and viscose yarn lending breathability and comfort.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our ivory viscose crepe fabric is an understated crepe fabric which we’d describe as a light- to medium-weight dress fabric. It’s a 100% viscose fabric which means it’s both soft to the touch and easy to wear and care for.
What does this fabric feel like?
As you’d expect from a crepe fabric, this is a fabric with a slightly textured feel; however it’s also very soft. It will be comfortable to wear next to the skin and it’s breatheable too.
How does this fabric move?
Although a beautifully-draping cloth, our ivory viscose crepe fabric has a little substance to the way it moves, preferring folds and ripples rather than fluid piles of fabric. You can see how it moves and drapes in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
This ivory viscose crepe fabric has good opacity for its weight and colour. You won’t need to line a shirt, top or tunic made from this fabric, however you’ll need to pay attention to your undergarments since a bra that contrasts with your skin colour will show through. A dress would also require a lining or a slip in order to move against the body and hosiery as well as to provide additional opacity.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, tunics and dresses are all options for this ivory viscose crepe fabric. Skirts and even trousers too would be options, although they’d require lining and the latter would need to be less-fitting, more fluid designs such as palazzo pants. We thought the simple elegance of the ‘Sadie’ Tunic from Style Arc would make good use of the draping qualities of this ivory viscose crepe fabric.
