The simplicity and sheer elegance of this ivory ribbed viscose jersey fabric have to be seen (and perhaps felt) to be believed. This is the fabric you’ll want as a simple sheath dress in which to wander through the sunset-bathed streets of Santorini (or which ever Mediterranean refuge takes your fancy).
What kind of fabric is this?
Our delightful ivory ribbed viscose jersey fabric is a medium-weight single-knit jersey. I’s a refined fabric with a substantial viscose content and a very slight sheen across its ribbed surface. The shade of ivory here is a calm off-white with no obvious green or yellow tones.
What does this fabric feel like?
This knit has a very smooth handle. Its viscose content and knitted structure means that it’s a breathable fabric. It’s very soft and smooth next to the skin.
How does this fabric move?
This isn’t a stiff jersey by any means – the high viscose content gives it a graceful movement as you can see from this video.
There’s a very little mechanical stretch down the length of the fabric however the majority of the stretch here is across the width of the fabric. The ribbed structure as well as the 4% spandex content add up to a good 75% stretch with good return and shape-holding capacity.
Will I need to line this fabric?
You might reasonably expect a fabric in this colour to be far less opaque than it is. In fact we’d be more than happy to wear this ivory ribbed viscose jersey fabric as a single layer, even as a dress. A little attention paid to undergarments would be advisable it’s true – and perhaps a slip in a more formal setting might be advisable but we wouldn’t be too concerned.
What can I make with this fabric?
Fitted tops are one way to go as they’ll use the negative ease inherent in the fabric – however long, casual shell or T-shirt style dresses will also work well. They’ll hold a columnar line with the stretch in the fabric structure providing the ease required for plenty of activity.
