If you fancy bringing a little colour-blocking to your wardrobe then this emerald green viscose challis fabric is one to consider. There’s something quite 1980s about this vibrant, blue-leaning shade of green; it pops magnificently over denim, looks crisp and clean with white and will have a riot with gold and purple any day of the week.
What kind of fabric is this?
This is is a lovely-quality, medium-to-lighter weight viscose fabric. It’s been closely-woven in a plain weave pattern and has a beautiful understated lustre.
What does this fabric feel like?
Our draping emerald green viscose challis fabric has a very smooth, soft handle. It will be cool and very comfortable next to the skin.
How does this fabric move?
Use it on the cross or hang it straight – this is a fabric that loves to flow and ripple. You can see how our emerald green viscose challis fabric moves and drapes in this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
The weave of this fabric is plain and fairly close; this and the rich shade of green give it very good opacity for its weight. You’ll be just fine with an unlined blouse or tunic and for less formal, more carefree occasions an unlined dress or skirt in this fabric will be perfectly acceptable, especially in draped designs. However a silhouette may be visible against the sun and so depending the design of a dress or skirt, a plain cotton lawn lining or a half-slip might be advisable.
What can I make with this fabric?
We think our rippling emerald green viscose challis fabric will be perfect for summer tops and blouses, warmer-weather dresses and tunics. Try a simple camisole top or a slip dress; we think you’ll find its drape and movement is perfect for the Ogden Cami pattern from True/Bias.
