One look at the muted, warm yet elegant colour combination in this charcoal rust and wine paisley ribbed jersey fabric, and we were sold. We adore the warmth of rust-brown with soft mauves and burgundy – it’s an under-used colour combination but one with a long heritage.
Here it’s combined with soft, dark charcoal and silvery grey to charming effect. We think our rust and wine paisley ribbed jersey fabric is the perfect autumn fabric and we’ve loved playing with it in the ClothSpot studio. Team it with any one of the colours in the print design here and you’ll find your outfit springs to life.
Our rust and wine paisley ribbed jersey fabric is a particularly soft singleknit fabric with a beautiful drape and movement. You can see how it moves and stretches in this video.
We’d describe this fabric as sitting at the lighter-weight end of the medium-weight jersey bracket. The texture and pattern mean that it has good opacity for its weight, however this isn’t a heavy or robust fabric. There’s a very little mechanical stretch down its length; the majority of the stretch here is across the width of the fabric. This is partly due to the ribbed structure as well as the 5% spandex content which adds up to a good 75% stretch with good return and shape-holding capacity.
Fitted tops which incorporate ruching and gathering are one way to go with this rust and wine paisley ribbed jersey fabric as they’ll use the negative ease inherent in the fabric. However draping styles will also work well, making use of the weight and movement of this knit, especially when layered under garments with a little more structure.
The ‘Kim’ Swing Top from Style Arc is a ‘tried and tested’ pattern here at ClothSpot and we think it would be perfect for a draping knit such as this.
