How laid-back do you want to get this summer, without losing your style? This cream and blue striped linen-viscose fabric is an absolute dream for warmer weather. The warm cream and white stripes in this relaxed, super-soft fabric are the perfect complement to the denim blue, knocked back by the white weft yarns.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our cream and blue striped linen-viscose fabric is a blend of 55% linen and 45% viscose. The linen element is unmistakeable and gives this refreshing fabric its lively coolness while the viscose contributes unparalleled drape and softness. The stripes are woven in, not dyed, running down the length of the fabric. We’d describe it as a good shirt weight, albeit with a slightly less close weave than the usual shirting fabric.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a fabric which is smooth, cool and beautifully-soft to the touch. It’s breathable and will be extremely comfortable next to the skin.
How does this fabric move?
Our cream and blue striped linen-viscose fabric has lots of life to it. It holds just a little shape due to the different yarns used but it’s not at all a structured fabric. It will waft coolly in a summer breeze. You can see how it moves and drapes in this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
As a shirt or top, this cream and blue striped linen-viscose fabric will work wonderfully by itself and won’t need a lining, although you’re going to want to wear non-contrasting undergarments. As a dress, it would require some additional structure in the bodice unless your pattern was a less fitted design. This is a fabric that will reveal a silhouette with the sun behind it, consequently a half-slip might be required unless you’re happy with a more voluminous or relaxed style of dress (we wouldn’t hesitate to go with a single layer in a voluminous dress on a warm summer’s day, but you might!) We don’t think this fabric has quite the opacity for trousers.
What can I make with this fabric?
Overshirts, summer maxi dresses, tunics, tops and robes too, are all options for this fresh cream and blue striped linen-viscose fabric. We’d suggest more relaxed pattern options would be more suited to this fabric, such as the ‘Max’ Tunic Dress from Style Arc. They have a fabulous range of oversized shirts and relaxed summer dressed – you might want to style this one over jeans or cropped leggings but the laid-back design’s perfect for this fabric we think.
