Orange can be a bit scary, we know. But the sun is coming out as we write – and we thought this black and tangerine paisley crepe fabric was so uplifting, we couldn’t resist it. Top off a pair of off-white summer trousers with a flowing shirt or kimono; alternatively let this vibrant fabric pop against burgundy or black.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our black, wine and tangerine paisley crepe fabric is a crepe fabric, woven from finely-twisted polyester fibre. We’d describe it as a medium-weight fabric for tops or blouses or as a lighter-weight dress fabric.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a fabric with a typically ‘crepey’ feel; slightly textured to the touch but comfortable next to the skin.
How does this fabric move?
Whether you decide to use it on the cross or hang it straight, this black and tangerine paisley crepe fabric loves to flow and ripple. However it’s a well-behaved and robust fabric for its weight. You can see how it drapes and moves in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
Our tangerine paisley crepe fabric has good opacity for its weight and the complex print pattern also helps. A top, blouse or tunic won’t need lining. You might choose to line, layer or wear a half-slip under a skirt or dress unless you’re planning to wear it for a less formal occasion, since you’ll probably see a silhouette if you’re standing in front of the sun.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, blouses and tunics will be perfect choices. Skirts and dresses are also options, but they’ll probably be draping and less structured designs. The ‘Artist Tunic’ pattern from Style Arc would make a fabulous summer overshirt from this flowing crepe fabric.
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
