We’re into classic LBD territory here – as well as the perfect option for a pair of straight-legged athleisure trousers. Our black double crepe fabric is a classic cloth that’ll find its way into most wardrobes with ease.
What kind of fabric is this?
This draping black double crepe fabric is a very draping light-to-medium-weight dress fabric. It’s constructed in a classic crepe weave from polyester fibres.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a fabric with a very fluid handle and a classic crepe texture. It can be worn next to the skin with ease.
How does this fabric move?
Whether you decide to use it on the cross or hang it straight, this draping black double crepe fabric will flow and ripple to your heart’s content. However it’s a stable fabric which just needs a little time and care to make sure it’s laid flat when cutting. You can see how it drapes and moves in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
Our blue and red floral viscose fabric has good opacity for its weight and the depth of colour also helps. A top, blouse or tunic won’t need lining although bright white undergarments might shine through. A fitted bodice would require lining in order to provide structure. A skirt or dress would benefit from a half-slip or lining in order to enable the garment to move against the body, especially over hosiery.
What can I make with this fabric?
Our draping black double crepe fabric is a particularly versatile fabric. It will be perfect for tops, dresses, tunics, jumpsuits and trousers alike – particularly more fluid, draping designs. This ‘Carly’ Jumpsuit from Style Arc is an example of a design that would be perfect for this fabric.
Machine wash at 30 or 40 degrees but we recommend spot- and dry-cleaning lined or closely-fitted and structured garments. Find out more on our About our fabric pages.
