Well really – how could we not! This fabulous orange and mint green textured suiting fabric seemed to us to be the perfect cloth with which to make a bit of a statement. We absolutely adore the fresh, cool mint colours here – with the jade green and dayglo orange textured threads providing a hefty dose of contemporary edge. Just in from France, our mint green textured suiting fabric can be dressed up with heels or given a bit of a kick with a crisp white shirt and box-fresh trainers. We love the fact that it works as a textured fabric but do take a second look at our draped image – those bold coloured threads also provide a subtle diamond pattern across the cloth.
This is a fairly robust fabric – as you can see from this video, under no circumstances could we describe it as ‘draping’ as you can see from this video.
However that’s not to say that it doesn’t have fabulous potential. It’s a much lighter-weight fabric than one might think – the structure comes from the complexity of the weave, not its weight. Our orange and mint green textured suiting fabric is one which will hold a shape – as a bold skirt perhaps, with pleats – or as a jacket. We’d call it a bouclé but it simply doesn’t have the drape and open weave of a true bouclé, although you could view it as an updated version of that type of fabric.
For that reason we don’t think this is a fabric made for trousers as although this fabric has a smooth handle, it might not be quite what you want in that department. However a skirt pattern such as the Eleonora Pleated Skirt from Named Clothing will give you an idea of how you might step out in this extraordinary cloth.
We’d go for a longer length for full impact but you’ll get the idea.
53% cotton, 39% polyester, 8% polyamide
We’d suggest hand-washing this fabric in order to preserve its texture; lined garments should be dry or spot-cleaned. See our Fabric care pages for more information.
