The colour of this draping teal blue satin-backed crepe fabric a vibrant jewellike blue that leans just past turquoise, over into the green side of the blue spectrum – but which stops well short. As ever if you’re matching then do ask us for a sample – we’re always happy to oblige.
We adore these luxurious yet relaxed satin-backed crepe fabrics which have fabulous movement and the ability to gracefully reveal a shape underneath. Our teal blue satin-backed crepe fabric is perfect for dressing up in that way – however it also has the potential for classic, elegant daywear. The face of the fabric has a clearly-discernible but typically refined crepe finish and is backed with a gleaming matt satin finish offering a myriad of marine blue tones.
We’re definitely eyeing up this fabric as a beautiful complement for our silver greys and monochrome suitings. It provides a pop of colour and lightens their look considerably, making a clear spring-summer statement. Our teal blue satin-backed crepe is a fabric with a fabulous drape yet with plenty of structure to enable it to work for a wide range of garments. You can see how it moves and drapes in this video clip.
Dresses, skirts, trousers, suits; tops and tunics too – our teal blue satin-backed crepe fabric is immensely versatile we think. Although not overly heavy in actual weight, it has good opacity and the handle and thickness of a medium-weight suiting fabric. That classic crepe texture has a somewhat smoother feel than a classic wool or triple crepe, for instance. However that’s only part of the story. Don’t dismiss the reverse side of this teal blue satin-backed crepe fabric. We’ve folded it back in our images and video so you can see the delightful contrast in textures that can be achieved by using both sides of this fabric in a garment. Collars, lapels, cuffs, trimmings – all of these can be lit up using the satin side of this fabric which is slightly lighter in colour and with a fabulous lustre. In fact you could go the whole hog and use the reverse side of this fabric for your whole garment.
If you’re looking for a simple statement dress pattern for our teal blue satin-backed crepe fabric then why not consider the ‘Agnes’ Designer Dress pattern from Style Arc which we think will make the most of the draping potential of this fabric.
Machine wash at 30 or 40 degrees but we recommend spot- and dry-cleaning lined or closely-fitted and structured garments. Find out more on our About our fabric pages.
