This darkest-of-dark midnight blue cotton twill fabric is a beautiful cloth. It comes to us from a high-end British designer and deserves to be teamed with classic accessories in tan, nut brown or black. Although it is a very dark navy blue, place it next to black and you can see the indigo undertones right away.
Our midnight blue cotton twill fabric has a refined diagonal classic twill weave. Although it leans towards the lighter-weight end of a medium-weight twill, our midnight blue cotton twill fabric is all but completely opaque yet manages to be wonderfully-robust without being in the least bulky. This is a fabric with an elegant structure which manages to hold a shape well, as you can see from this video.
Our classic midnight blue cotton twill fabric has no stretch content, however due to the twill weave, there is a little ease across the width of the fabric. Cut your trousers down the length of the fabric as you usually would, and your cigarette pants, clamdiggers, capri crops – or whatever your legwear of choice happens to be – will give just a little bit. However that ease is nowhere near what spandex will give you and so you’ll need to make sure your pattern has some ease factored into its design.
Of course trousers aren’t the only possibility for our midnight blue cotton twill fabric. A jacket with a close fit to the back and waist looks neat and satisfying – and a classic cloth such as our midnight blue cotton twill fabric would do the trick nicely. Suits, fitted dresses and skirts to meet both informal and formal requirements would all be options. Back on the trouser front however, we think our midnight blue cotton twill fabric would be perfect for the classic formality of the new ‘Fifi’ pant from Style Arc.
PLEASE NOTE! This is an indigo-dyed fabric that will lose some dye, especially in the first wash.
Machine wash at 30 or 40 degrees either separately or with other dark fabrics. Find out more on our About our fabric pages
