Rippling, layered, longer-length dresses and elegant draping blouses continue to be very much a part of current collections. They cross seasons; cool and wafting in the warmer months, perfect for layering in colder weather. Draping, breathable fabrics like this graphic black and turquoise floral viscose crepe-de-chine fabric are immensely versatile. We love the vibrant contrasts in this fabric.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our black & turquoise floral viscose crepe-de-chine is a 100% viscose cloth. Closely-woven with the finely-textured surface you’d expect in a crepe-de-chine, we’d describe it as a lighter-weight dress fabric.
What does this fabric feel like?
This fabric has a slightly rippled but refined and cool handle. It’s breathable so a good option for warmer weather; it’s also cool and gentle next to the skin.
How does this fabric move?
This cheerful turquoise floral viscose crepe-de-chine fabric has a wonderful swing and drape. You’ll need to take care to lay it out and pin carefully when working with it. A length of it will move with life and elegance as you can see in this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
Our black & turquoise floral viscose crepe-de-chine fabric has very good opacity for its weight; the depth of colour also helps. A top, blouse or tunic won’t need lining. You might choose to line, layer or wear a half-slip under a skirt or dress if you’re wearing it over hosiery simply to aid movement and add a little structure.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, blouses and dresses are all options for this fabric. Draping, less structured designs are always going to be its forte. There’s a trend for longer, flowing skirts and dresses right now – and this dress from Butterick (B6678) reflects that fashion. It has a nicely-fitted empire waistline which will avoid the appearance of being swamped.
