We’ve spent years at ClothSpot responding to the question: “Do you sell fleece?” with a firm “No, I’m afraid not?” With this seductive pink and moss green fleece fabric however, all that is turned on its head, albeit in a limited way. We’ve been on the hunt for fabrics that are suited to our Toaster Sweater Kit and Judy lobbied so hard for this cheery print that we didn’t have the heart to disappoint her.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our pink printed moss green fleece fabric is a blend of cotton, polyester and a little elastane to help with the stretch-and-return. The outer surface is a plain knit, printed with a mid-century inspired combination of tulips, flowers and crested birds. The inside is a softer-than-you-can-imagine fleecy pile, in green.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is an incredibly soft fabric which, along with the print, is why we couldn’t resist it. Pliable and easy to work; it’s also an incredibly comfortable fabric to wear.
How does this fabric move?
Our moss green fleece fabric has a lovely drape and falls into rounded folds. Even though it’s comprised of distinct construction layers it’s not in the least a stiff fabric. There’s a good 30% stretch across its width and a little mechanical ease down its length. You can see how it moves and stretches in this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
We think that lining this fabric will probably defeat the object of the fleece interior. It’s almost opaque and we’d say it’s been designed to remove the need for lining.
What can I make with this fabric?
We think this multicoloured jersey knit fabric is perfect for cooler-weather layering. As a sweater top or a tunic it will brighten up plain black leggings or denim jeans. We’re using it as an option for our ClothSpot Sweater Kit – a quick and easy way to perk up your cross-season wardrobe! Our kit uses the Simplicity Patterns edition of the popular ‘Toaster’ Sweater by Sew House Seven.
