Our latest latest range of jersey knits includes this beautifully-finished olive bamboo jersey fabric. This is a soft shade of olive; not overly muted; rich but not harsh in its tone. Our bamboo jersey fabrics have a slightly lustrous finish – not shiny, but reflecting just a little light, a quality which will lift your garments out of the ordinary.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our olive bamboo jersey fabric is a medium-weight single-knit jersey. It has a high bamboo content; a sustainable source of cellulose which is grown without fertiliser or chemicals. The cotton content gives it a little more substance and helps it drape rather than cling.Like many single-knit jersey fabrics It’s the kind of fabric that’s difficult to gauge from a snippet, but once you have a metre or two in your hand, you can feel that it has substance and character.
What does this fabric feel like?
Bamboo fabrics are wonderfully-soft next to the skin and this olive bamboo jersey fabric is no exception; it’s breathable too, so will keep you cooler in hot weather.
How does this fabric move?
Our glowing olive bamboo jersey fabric is very much a draping knit with a fluid movement. It has approximately 30% stretch across its width and a little more than that down the length of the fabric. You can see how it moves and stretches in this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
You won’t need to line a shirt, top or tunic made from this fabric, however a dress may require a double layer of the fabric for structure, depending on your pattern design. Unless you’re wearing it over bare legs, then you’ll need a half-slip to enable this fabric to move against your body.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, tunics and dresses are all options for this olive bamboo jersey fabric. You’ll need to find a pattern intended for a knit fabric; garments with more draping designs will work particularly well, as will those which incorporate elements of ruching and negative ease.
Wrap dresses are classic designs and will make the most of the ability of this fabric to stretch, fit and drape. You can see a selection of wrap dress patterns in this post from Helen’s Closet; we think the Wanda Wrap Dress from Wardrobe By Me is a particularly good design for this fabric.
