This lightweight ivory crepe fabric, like its grey sibling colourway, looks deceptively unassuming on the roll, or as a sample. However once you get your hands on it or if, as we do, you have cause to drape it on a mannequin, the we promise you’ll be enchanted.
This lightweight ivory crepe fabric has the most wonderful drape – it’s beautifully fluid as we hope you can see from our images, as well as this short video clip.
This is a fabric with a classic crepe texture, arising from the twisted threads and weave which also provide it with the matt appearance you’d expect from a crepe fabric.
We’d suggest that this is primarily a fabric to be used for a blouse, top or tunic. Although a polyester, its lightness will make it comfortable to wear, and it will gather and pleat with aplomb in a lighter-weight garment. Imagine bell sleeves gathered into long cuffs, with self-covered buttons and loops, for instance… However we might also prompt you to consider this lightweight ivory crepe fabric as a slip dress – albeit a layered one perhaps – or for sophisticated flowing, fluid lingerie and loungewear. Perhaps the most obvious use of this delightfully-draping lightweight ivory crepe fabric is as a camisole or slip that could be worn under a sheer or semi-sheer fabric.
Our lightweight ivory crepe fabric has a fairly close weave – it’s more fluid and definitely more opaque than a georgette for instance. As a result you would just about get away without lining a top or blouse – albeit with due attention paid to your undergarments. However since it’s quite a fine fabric you’d definitely want to line a dress or skirt.
The shade of ivory here is a slightly warm one – difficult to capture in our images. It works best with fresher colours as well as pastels. As ever if you’re trying to match or coordinate then please do ask us for a free sample – we’re always happy to oblige.
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
